Rank given to cadets upon entering unit.

C/SA
   Cadet Seaman Apprentice
  
This collar device is two diagonal strips.
   When qualified, recruits can advance upon learning the  
           NJROTC program.

C/SN
   Cadet Seaman
  
Collar device with three diagonal strips.
   When qualified, cadets advance to SN the first year.

C/PO3
   Cadet Petty Officer Third Class
   The collar device is an perched eagle over one chevron.
   Outstanding cadets may achieve this rate the first year.
   Assignment include squad leaders, color escorts in platoons, drill 
          teams, color guards and drum and bugle corps.

C/PO2
   Cadet Petty Officer Second Class
  
The collar device is an perched eagle over two chevron.
   Cadets can generally achieve PO2 in their second year.
   Assignment include squad leaders, color escorts in platoons, drill  
          teams, color guards and drum and bugle corps.

C/PO1
   Cadet Petty Officer First Class
   The collar device is an perched eagle over three chevrons.
   Cadets can generally achieve PO1 in their second or third year.
   Assignment include platoon guides, color bearers. drill team   
          guides, and supply assistants.

C/CPO
   Cadet Chief Petty Officer
   The collar device is an eagle perched on a fouled anchor.
   Cadets can generally achieve CPO in their second or third year.
   Assignment include company chief , platoon chief, color bearer,
         drill team chief, or rifle team chief.

C/SCPO
   Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer
   The collar device is an eagle and one star perched on a fouled 
          anchor.
   Generally a third year cadet.
   The NSI may assign a Senior Chief Petty Officer billet to the
          company chief petty officer.

C/MCPO
   Cadet Master Chief Petty Officer
   The collar device is an eagle and two star perched on a fouled
          anchor.
   Generally a third or fourth year cadet.
   The NSI may assign a Master Chief Petty Officer billet to the  
          company chief petty officer.

C/ENS
   Cadet Ensign
   The collar device is a single gold bar.
   Generally a third or fourth year cadet.
   The first junior officer assignment which may include junior officer  
          on company staffs, public affairs, assistant supply, platoon     
          commander, or assistant drill team commander.

C/LTJG
   Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade
   The collar device is two attached gold bars.
   Assigned for officers ready for additional responsibilities.
   Assignments can include operations, rifle team commanders,  
           battalion supply, and administrative.

C/LT
   Cadet Lieutenant
   The collar device is three attached gold bars.
   Assigned to some of the most senior officers such as executive
           officer or companies or operations officer in battalions and     
           regiments.

C/LCDR
   Cadet Lieutenant Commander
   The collar device is four attached gold bars.
   Assigned to cadet officers in the top leadership roles of the  
           NJROTC.
   The highest rank of company strength.
   Assignments include company commander in smaller units and
           executive officer in battalions and regiments.

C/CDR
   Cadet Commander
   The collar is a five attached gold bars.
   The highest rank that can be attained by a cadet in the unit.
   Assignments include battalion commander and regimental
          commander.

C/CAPT
   Cadet Captain
   The collar is a six attached gold bars.
   The highest rank can be reached by a cadet in the NJROTC.
   Assignments include Company Officer of a battalion or regiment.
   *This may not be a CNET regulated rank with the NJROTC but is
          awarded by area manager to the CO upon evaluation of
          character, patriotism, leadership, and citizenship.
